The starting point of the project is the systematic landscape archaeological survey of the surroundings of Olympia. Selected areas around Olympia were surveyed as part of a surface survey. Due to the specific survey methodology, the material remains are often transmitted without context, making it difficult to determine the function (settlement, necropolis, cult site) of most sites. Therefore, a project has been designed to provide a new basis for better evaluation of this data.
